Surabaya -  East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa sent the Ksatria Airlangga Floating Hospital (RST) cruise which will carry out a health service and community service mission to the Madura Islands region.

"What is being done is a humanitarian mission to provide health, education and economic services," he said on the sidelines of the departure of the RST Ksatria Airlangga Ship in Muara Kali Mas, Tanjung Perak, Surabaya, Saturday (14/5/2022), as reported by Antara.

RST Ksatria Airlangga is a floating hospital belonging to Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) with a mission of providing health services and community service to remote areas in the Indonesian  archipelago.Since sailing for the first time in 2017, RST Ksatria Airlangga has sailed to a number of small islands in the country.

This ship is equipped with advanced medical equipment that is equivalent to hospital equipment in general. This mission, which will take place from 14 May 2022 to 10 July 2022, is the 63rd and will visit islands in Sumenep, such as Gili Raja Island, Gili Genting, Gili Iyang, Sapudi, Raas, Sapeken,panjang, Sakala, Pagerungan Besar, and Little Pagerungan. "We hope that this can provide an expansion of equal distribution of welfare for people in the islands," said Khofifah.

The former Minister of Social Affairs said that in building equal distribution of welfare, one of the ways can be done by building good connectivity between islands so as to facilitate public services.

"We hope that what we have done can provide added value for the people who will receive services," said Khofifah, who is also the General Chair of IKA Unair.

Meanwhile, the governor also invited the Community Development team to collaborate with related OPDs as an effort to empower communities in the islands. For example, he said, building a partnership with the East Java Fisheries and Maritime Service regarding fish and marine cultivation in the archipelagic region as well as for the empowerment of fishermen.

"We hope that among all equalization programs based on local potential sectors, plus teams from health services, we can build synergy together," he said.

Meanwhile, Director of RST Ksatria Airlangga Dr. Agus Harianto said that the mission so far has been the calling of the hearts of Unair Campus alumni. 

"So far there have been 62 RST Ksatria Airlangga missions and this year around 20 remote islands were reached. "Airlangga's hymn has given us all the strength until now to continue sailing despite all the existing circumstances," he said.
