SDGs Center - Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) is establishing to increase the accessibility of higher education for impoverished areas. The university's goal is to have 25% of its student body originate from households that make up the lowest 20% of the national income distribution. UNAIR's dedication to equity and inclusivity in education, making sure that brilliant minds are not deterred from achieving academic success by financial limitations.

Affirmative Path for Economically Disadvantaged Students UNAIR offers a specialized admission route called the Affirmative Path (Jalur Afirmasi), which is dedicated to students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. This path is designed to level the playing field for students whose financial circumstances might otherwise limit their opportunities for higher education. By implementing this pathway, UNAIR opens doors for students who have the potential to succeed but lack the financial means to pursue their academic dreams.

Scholarships for Eastern Indonesia and 3T Areas To further support this initiative, UNAIR provides targeted scholarships aimed at students from Indonesia’s eastern regions and underserved areas. One of the key programs is the ADiK (Afirmasi Pendidikan Tinggi) Scholarship, which focuses on providing financial support to students from provinces like Papua. This scholarship is a lifeline for students from these regions, allowing them to access quality education at UNAIR without the burden of financial stress.

In addition, UNAIR offers the KIPK (Kartu Indonesia Pintar Kuliah) Scholarship, which aims to assist students from the 3T areas—regions that are remote, frontier, and underdeveloped. These scholarships ensure that students from Indonesia’s most disadvantaged regions are not left behind. The KIPK program fosters collaboration with underprivileged students, helping them transition into higher education and thrive in an academic environment.

UNAIR’s Vision for an Inclusive Future This concerted effort to admit students from the country’s bottom 20% of household income, along with the provision of scholarships such as ADiK and KIPK, reflects UNAIR’s vision of creating a more inclusive and equitable society. By removing financial barriers and offering support to students from marginalized regions, UNAIR is not only expanding educational access but also contributing to Indonesia’s broader goal of reducing inequality and fostering national development. Through these initiatives, UNAIR reinforces its role as a leading institution that promotes diversity and social justice in education, empowering students from all walks of life to achieve their full potential.
