<div pagelayer-id="n8i3783" class="p-n8i3783 pagelayer-text">
<div class="pagelayer-text-holder">
<p style="text-align: justify;">SDGs UNAIR – <strong>Universitas Airlangga has addressed this problem even further by increasing access to higher education, especially in disadvantaged groups. It makes sure that 40% of the total students are from the poorest families representing the bottom 20% of the national income distribution. </strong>This is UNAIR's continued commitment to decrease socio-economic gaps and enhance educational inclusion, and for which it would slowly increase the proportion of the beneficiary group in the long term.</p>
</div></div>
<div pagelayer-id="jz73221" class="p-jz73221 pagelayer-text">
<div class="pagelayer-text-holder">
<p style="text-align: justify;">For this reason, UNAIR has introduced a variety of targeted programs so that financial aspects no longer become barriers to students from less well-off families. <strong>The expansion of the Kartu Indonesia Pintar-Kuliah (KIP-K) scholarship becomes one of the big strategies. It opened up an opportunity for students at UNAIR to get a comprehensive scholarship. As of 2023, 13,161 students at UNAIR are recipients of the KIP-K scholarship.</strong> To ensure equal opportunity for students to receive a quality education and that financial status is not an obstacle to studying at the best universities, besides tuition fees, other additional education-related expenses such as application fees, living on campus, and school requirements will be covered.</p>
</div></div>
<div pagelayer-id="hqi4395" class="p-hqi4395 pagelayer-text">
<div class="pagelayer-text-holder">
<p style="text-align: justify;">Besides KIP-K, UNAIR fully supports Affirmasi Higher Education Scholarship, an affirmative policy that can be taken so that the university can help those who cannot continue their higher education because of financial or geographical constraints. <strong>In 2023 alone, as many as 183 students from Eastern Indonesia, especially from Papua and West Papua, received support from the ADik scholarship.</strong> Support like this will surely enable students hailing from these backward and remote regions to receive adequate financial assistance towards their studies at Universitas Airlangga.</p>
</div></div>
<div pagelayer-id="vhy8955" class="p-vhy8955 pagelayer-text">
<div class="pagelayer-text-holder">
<p style="text-align: justify;">For this purpose, UNAIR provides three kinds of student admission pathways. One is the Regular Admission Pathway, which is open to all qualified on merit grounds to ensure healthy competition among aspirants for the best available educational opportunities. <strong>There is also a type of Self-Admission, specifically designed and dedicated to students who exhibit potential and dedication beyond typical academic requirements. According to the university, personal qualities such as leadership, creativity, and perseverance are the essential pointers in evaluating the prospect student's contribution towards campus life. These efforts go towards fulfilling the mandate of UNAIR on educational equity and social mobility as part of a greater strategy.</strong> The university considers education one of the strongest methods for breaking the cycle of poverty and is thus determined that all students be accorded an opportunity to succeed. With the Universitas Airlangga increasingly admitting students from low-income backgrounds into higher education, it takes a center stage in shaping a more equal society.</p>
</div></div>
<div pagelayer-id="pl53428" class="p-pl53428 pagelayer-text">
<div class="pagelayer-text-holder">
<p style="text-align: justify;">Furthermore, UNAIR is not only focused on admission targets but also on ensuring that these students thrive throughout their academic journey. The university has established comprehensive support systems, including mentorship programs, academic counseling, and career guidance, to ensure that students from disadvantaged backgrounds succeed both academically and personally.</p>
</div></div>
<div pagelayer-id="lna7383" class="p-lna7383 pagelayer-text">
<div class="pagelayer-text-holder">
<p style="text-align: justify;">Along with the inclusive education in Universitas Airlangga supported by strong financial aid, the university has set up a national benchmark for other Indonesian higher education institutions. The issue of access is of priority so that one's financial problems should not be an obstacle to higher education; hence, UNAIR acts as a model for universities throughout the nation. In the future, UNAIR is committed to expanding such programs to reach even more students from poor and marginal groups and will continue to increase the beneficiaries. This is a forward-looking vision underlined in the commitment of UNAIR for increasing enrollment, while supporting the students in their studies, which will further strengthen its leadership in promoting equitable access to education for all. With continuously more significant efforts, UNAIR reaffirms its commitment to tearing down barriers to education and to a just and inclusive society for future generations.</p>
