Universitas Airlangga takes steps to enhance the safety and comfort of campus residents by improving their pedestrian walkways. Focusing on all campuses, the university regularly updates and improves pedestrian walkways to ensure pedestrian health and safety. By providing shaded and well-lit pathways, we are in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically targeting goal 11 for cities and communities.

UNAIR is committed to enhancing the safety and welfare of the university community by revitalizing pedestrian pathways. By enhancing the experience of pedestrians, this approach not only enhances campus safety but also improves their overall comfort while walking. A number of pedestrian walkways at Campus B have been restructured to enhance the comfort and safety of users. These locations include those next to the Faculty of Psychology (FPsi), in front of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP), in front of the Library, behind the Faculty of Humanities (FIB), around the Language Center connected to the west entrance of Campus B, etc. While on Campus A, it has been applied at the entrance gate.

Similarly, on Campus C, various pedestrian paths have been revitalized to prioritize pedestrian safety and comfort, including areas such as along Institute of Tropical Disease (ITD), around the mosque area, in front of the rectorate building, in front of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (FKH), in front of the Faculty of Public Health (FKM), in front of the Faculty of Science and Technology (FST), extending up to the post gate at Campus C, etc.

UNAIR ensures that the redesigned pedestrian walkways are not only visually appealing but also functional, while also maintaining their aesthetic values. Shaded walkways offer protection from the elements, while proper lighting at night enhances safety and comfort for pedestrians. These efforts contribute to SDG Goal 11 by creating inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable urban environments.

With its focus on sustainable practices, UNAIR sets a positive example for academics and community institutions, leading to achieving progressively more sustainable future. In addition, UNAIR is committed to promoting sustainable living for all, while also providing greater comfort and safety for pedestrians.
