Surabaya – Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) continues to demonstrate its strong commitment to fostering sustainable entrepreneurship by providing diverse financial assistance schemes for startups, micro-businesses, and social enterprises. Through a combination of institutional incubation, community-based financing, and regional product development, UNAIR has built a resilient ecosystem that supports both innovation and social impact.

Rp 72 Billion for Startup Growth

Over the past three years, UNAIR’s Startup Business Development and Incubation Agency has successfully secured more than Rp 72 billion in matching funds. These funds have enabled emerging businesses to scale innovations addressing national and global challenges.

Among the standout projects are the Bangga Electric Vehicle Charging Station, supporting Indonesia’s transition to renewable energy, and Excelzyme, an eco-friendly enzyme product contributing to sustainable industries. Both initiatives highlight how UNAIR-backed startups are driving technological solutions while aligning with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Waqf and Social Fund Mobilization

Beyond startups, UNAIR’s Social Fund Management Center empowers communities through innovative financing mechanisms. Programs such as the Thousand Waqf Movement and fundraising booths at campus events have mobilized contributions from students, staff, and alumni.

These funds are channeled to social enterprises, educational initiatives, and community development programs, ensuring that financial assistance directly reaches grassroots beneficiaries. By embedding waqf and charitable financing into annual cycles, UNAIR is creating a culture of collective responsibility and inclusive growth.

Co-Investment in Regional Superior Products

UNAIR also strengthens local economies through the Regional Superior Product Development Program. In collaboration with MSME cooperatives, the university co-invests in products with unique cultural and environmental value—from traditional crafts to sustainable food processing.

Each program runs for three years and includes intensive support from UNAIR lecturers, who provide technical guidance, innovation strategies, and market expansion insights. This long-term approach ensures that local enterprises not only survive but thrive in competitive markets.

Building Long-Term Entrepreneurial Resilience

By embedding financial support mechanisms into multi-year programs, waqf-based funding models, and structured incubation cycles, UNAIR ensures the continuity and resilience of its entrepreneurship ecosystem.


Driving Indonesia’s SDG Agenda

These initiatives reflect UNAIR’s broader role in advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly in promoting inclusive economic growth, innovation, and reduced inequalities. By mobilizing over Rp 72 billion, strengthening community funding, and co-investing in local excellence, UNAIR is proving that higher education can be a powerful engine for sustainable entrepreneurship and regional development.
