Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) has enhanced its role in gathering and measuring data for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through international partnerships, notably during the recent World University Association for Community Development (WUACD) Summit 2023. This summit brought together academic leaders from 37 member universities and representatives from global associations such as the World Association for Sustainable Development (WASD), the ASEAN University Network on University Social Responsibility and Sustainability (AUN USRNS), and UniRanks, focusing on advancing sustainable development through collective data efforts. 

UNAIR’s engagement at the WUACD Summit 2023 demonstrates its commitment to data-driven SDG initiatives, emphasizing SDG 15 (Life on Land) and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals). UNAIR led discussions on integrating the SDGs into higher education and improving data practices for assessing community development impacts, focusing on practical steps and challenges that institutions face in achieving SDG targets.

In addition to fostering cross-institutional SDG initiatives, UNAIR also helped shape a strategic roadmap during the summit, creating actionable plans to align education practices with sustainable growth. Leaders shared best practices and addressed current challenges in implementing SDG strategies within universities. The UNAIR SDGs Center played a key role, offering insights into data collection and measurement practices to bolster the university’s—and by extension, Indonesia’s—contribution to global sustainable development goals.

By actively participating in these cross-sectoral discussions and international collaborations, UNAIR continues to strengthen its role in measuring and analyzing data crucial to SDG success. The WUACD Summit 2023 has not only solidified UNAIR’s leadership in sustainable initiatives but also affirmed its commitment to fostering impactful partnerships that enhance the global data landscape for sustainable development.
