SURABAYA - Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) has emerged as a beacon of sustainability by adopting ambitious building standards aimed at minimizing water use, demonstrating unwavering support for SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation.

In alignment with the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), UNAIR has embarked on a transformative journey to tackle water scarcity and promote responsible water management within its campus.

Implement of Water-Efficiency Building Standards in Support of SDG 6:

Rainwater Harversting System

UNAIR will install state-of-the-art rainwater harvesting systems across its campus buildings. These systems will collect rainwater and channel it for various non-potable purposes, including irrigation, flushing toilets, and cooling systems.

Water-Efficient Fixtures

All new constructions and renovations on the UNAIR campus will be required to incorporate water-efficient fixtures such as low-flow toilets, faucets, and showerheads. These fixtures will significantly reduce water consumption without compromising functionally.

Greywater Recycling

UNAIR is actively exploring the implementation of greywater recycling systems. Greywater from sinks, showers, and laundry facilities will be treated and repurposed for non-potable applications, reducing the demand for freshwater resources.

Water Monitoring and Reporting

UNAIR will deploy advanced water metering systems to monitor water consumption in real-time. This data will be used to identify areas of improvement and to promote water-saving behaviors among the campus community.

Educational Outreach

UNAIR is committed to educating its students, faculty, and staff about the importance of responsible water use. Awareness campaigns, workshops, and seminars will be organized to foster a culture of sustainability
