THE Impact Ranking aims to measure the universities worldwide in the contribution to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), an agenda established by the United Nations. The global goals are targeted to bring peace and prosperity for all by 2030. The measurement is based on indicators across four broad areas: research, stewardship, outreach, and teaching. 

Universitas Airlangga gained the overall rank of #201-300 worldwide in the Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Ranking 2022. This result was announced on 27 April 2022 in Stockholm City Hall, Sweden at the events of THE Innovation & Impact Summit. It is attended by 2 representative of Universitas Airlangga, Dr. Muhammad Miftahussurur, M.Kes., Sp.PD-KGEH., Ph.D as Vice Rector of Internationalization, Digitalization, dan Information and also Bayu Arie Fianto, SE., MBA., Ph.D as the Head of SDGs Center. 

The two previous years, in 2020, Universitas Airlangga gained overall rank of #301-400 out of 768 institutions with 61.7 score and was only participated on 4 SDGs, i.e. SDG 1, 3, 10, and 17. In addition, in 2021, Universitas Airlangga achieved overall rank of #401-600 out of 1117 participating institutions and the result score is 66 out of 100. In that year, we participated in all of the  SDGs.

In this blessed year, 2022, Universitas Airlangga set a new worldwide record with an overall rank of #201-300 out of 1406 universities around the world and the outcome result is 81 out of 100. For the local recognition, Universitas Airlangga achieved the Top 5 THE Impact Ranking in Indonesia out of 28 universities participating in this event. Our programs related to  SDG 1, No poverty; SDG 3, Good Health and Well-Being; SDG 6, Clean Water and Sanitation; SDG 17, Partnership for the Goals are the most outstanding performances out of the 17 SDGs. This year's achievement is the driving force for us to improve our programs in achieving the SDGs in Indonesia, especially in health, economy, etc. 

“The increased rank of Universitas Airlangga to be in the Top 5 in Indonesia is something incredible. I am proud of this achievement, and so does Universitas Airlangga,” said Savira Rizma Yunita as the staff coordinator of SDGs Center of Universitas Airlangga. This achievement is something that Universitas Airlangga is proud of nationally and internationally. 

“For Universitas Airlangga, it is hoped that Universitas Airlangga can contribute more broadly for the academic community and the local community to achieve the SDGs by 2030,” added Savira.
