SDGs NEWS – Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) is setting a progressive standard in labor governance by guaranteeing equal rights and fair treatment for all outsourced personnel. Through Circular Letter No. 2200 of 2022 on the Management of Third-Party Services, UNAIR ensures that outsourced workers, primarily in facility, security, and cleaning services, receive equivalent wages, benefits, health insurance, and leave entitlements as permanent employees.
This policy reflects UNAIR’s deep commitment to ethical, transparent, and humane employment practices, aligning institutional operations with national labor laws and global human rights principles. Outsourcing activities are further regulated under Rector’s Decree No. 16 of 2022, which mandates strict adherence to Sustainable Procurement Principles and ethical labor standards.
To uphold these standards, third-party vendors are contractually obligated to protect workers’ rights, prohibit discrimination, and prevent modern slavery practices. Oversight is conducted by the Directorate of Human Resources and the Procurement Unit, which perform routine evaluations to ensure full compliance and accountability across all outsourced operations.
These efforts directly advance Sustainable Development Goal 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) by promoting inclusive labor protections, fair compensation, and safe working conditions for all workers, regardless of employment status. By embedding equity into its outsourcing framework, Universitas Airlangga is leading the way in redefining labor ethics within Indonesia’s higher education sector.
