Empowering East Java BPSDM: Collaborative TOT Workshop with SDGs Center UNAIR
Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) - Aris Agung Paewai, S.STP., M.M., as the Head of the East Java Regional Training and Development Agency (BPSDM), officially opened the Training of Trainer (ToT) Leadership Competency workshop for Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) organized by East Java BPSDM. The event took place online on Wednesday (August 11st, 2022).
In his address, Aris emphasized that all parties, including civil servants (ASN), should actively contribute to achieving the SDGs by 2030. "We are aware that within the government apparatus, there are civil servants who are also instrumental in advancing the SDGs. Civil servants are highly needed to provide services to the community with the aim of mobilizing society," expressed Aris.
Aris also expressed hope that through this workshop, ASN will gain a better understanding of the SDGs. "We hope that all stakeholders, including universities, the government, and the general public directly involved on SDGs. Therefore, we aim to change the mindset of ASN who, for the most part, do not fully comprehend the 17 SDGs and the 169 indicators," he explained.
Meanwhile, the Head of East Java BPSDM also urged workshop participants to apply the knowledge gained in various trainings and incorporate it into the curriculum.

Bayu Arie Fianto, SE., MBA., Ph.D., as the Head of SDGs Center UNAIR, stated that SDGs Center UNAIR is currentlyfocus is on making an impact on society.
"So. our Rector emphasizes that the SDGs current focus is on making an impact on society. This means that we're not just looking at academic and research achievement, but also how we can make a difference ini society, especially through the 17 SDGs goals," said Bayu.
He mentioned that this workshop serves as a crucial starting point.
"Subsequently, there will be a real action plan program that will also serve as a model, demonstrating a tangible contribution from this initial workshop," he added.
"This way, the corporate university initiative led by East Java BPSDM will truly have an impact, particularly in the East Java region," he concluded.
