SDGs CENTER UNAIR - SDGs Center Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) bekerjasama dengan Centre of Global Sustainability Studies (CGSS) Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) dalam menyelenggarakan Workshop Training of Trainers (ToT) terkait Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Workshop ini berlangsung sleama 3 hari, dari tanggal 14-16 Mei 2024, di Aula Amerta, UNAIR.

14 Mei 2024 - Workshop ToT SDGs dibuka secara resmi oleh Prof. Muhammad Miftahussurur, dr., M.Kes., Sp.PD-KGEH., Ph.D (Wakil Rektor Bidang Internasionalisasi, Digitalisasi, dan Inovasi) UNAIR, bersama dengan Bayu Arie Fianto, SE., MBA., Ph.D (Ketua SDGs Center UNAIR, dan Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mohd Wira (Direktur CGSS). Hari pertama pelatihan berfokus pada pengenalan dasar SDGs, termasuk transisi dari MDGs ke SDGs serta penjelasan detail dari beberapa tujuan SDGs. Lalu hari pertama ditutup dengan sesi kuis yang diikuti oleh seluruh peserta untuk menguji pemahaman mereka tentang materi yang telah disampaikan.

15 Mei 2024 - Hari kedua Workshop ToT SDGs masih fokus pada pengenalan SDGs. Dr. Noor Adelyna (Deputy Director CGSS) menjelaskan berbagai permasalahan perubahan iklim yang sedang dihadapi dan menjadi perhatian khusus dalma beberapa tahun terakhir.

“Kita semua tahun bahwa perubahan iklim sudah benar-benar terjadi. Ini bukan hanya tanggung jawab satu orang, namun seluruh manusia di bumi. Maka mulailah secara bijak dalam memanfaatkan sumber daya serta jangan berhenti melakukan edukasi kepada masyarakat tentang pentingnya perubahan iklim terhadap ketahanan bumi,” ujar Dr. Noor Adelyna.

16 Mei 2024 - Pada hari terakhir, peserta diajak untuk berdiskusi dan melakukan analisis mendalam terkait implementasi SDGs. Peserta terlibat diskusi interaktif dengan para pemateri, di mana mereka menempelkan opini dan persepsi mereka mengenai tujuan-tujuan SDGs yang dibahas.

Di akhir pelatihan, peserta diminta untuk mengerjakan proyek proposal individu bertemakan SDGs, baik dalam bentuk penelitian maupun pengabdian masyarakat. Mereka diberikan waktu 2 minggu untuk menyelesaikan proyek tersebut. Proyek ini bertujuan untuk mengukur kemampuan dan pemahaman peserta terhadap materi yang telah disampaikan selama pelatihan.

Surabaya - SDGs Center Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) took a significant step forward in advancing sustainability initiatives by convening a strategic meeting on Wednesday, February 28, 2024.

SDGs Center UNAIR hosted a pivotal meeting aimed at devising sustainability strategies for the year 2024. The gathering brought together prominent figures including the Vice Rector for Internationalization, Digitalization, and Information at UNAIR, alongside representatives from UIGM UNAIR Team, WUACD UNAIR, and Satu Data UNAIR.

The session commenced with an inaugural address by Prof. Muhammad Miftahussurur, dr., M.Kes., Sp.PD-KGEH., Ph.D., the esteemed Vice Rector for Internationalization, Digitalization, and Information at UNAIR. Prof. Miftahussurur set the tone for the meeting, emphasizing the university's unwavering commitment to advancing sustainability initiatives in alignment with global agendas.

then continued by the presentation of sustainability meeting material by the Head of SDGs center Mr. Bayu Arie Fianto, SE., MBA., Ph.D. and continued with Forum Group Discussion with UIGM UNAIR Team, WUACD and SATUDATA UNAIR by highlighting achievements, ongoing projects, and areas for improvement. Attendees engaged in a constructive dialogue, exchanging insights and experiences to identify priorities and set ambitious yet achievable targets for the year ahead.

Building upon existing initiatives to reduce carbon footprint and promote resource efficiency, the meeting deliberated on ways to further enhance sustainability practices within UNAIR's campus infrastructure and operations. This encompassed initiatives such as waste management, energy conservation, and green procurement practices.

Community Engagement and Outreach, Acknowledging the importance of engaging the broader community, particularly local stakeholders, participants discussed methods to foster meaningful partnerships and collaborative projects aimed at addressing community-specific sustainability challenges. This included initiatives to promote environmental awareness, sustainable livelihoods, and social inclusivity.

Leveraging the capabilities of Satu Data UNAIR, the meeting emphasized the importance of utilizing data-driven approaches to monitor progress, evaluate impact, and inform decision-making processes related to sustainability initiatives. This involved the development of robust monitoring and evaluation frameworks to track key performance indicators and ensure accountability.

As the meeting concluded, participants expressed optimism about the potential impact of the collaborative efforts in advancing sustainability objectives at UNAIR and beyond. The commitment to continued collaboration and collective action reflected UNAIR's unwavering dedication to addressing global challenges and contributing to a more sustainable future.

SDGs Center of Universitas Airlangga Proposes Collaborative Initiative with Western Sydney University

In a groundbreaking move towards global sustainable development, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Center at Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) has extended an invitation for collaboration with Western Sydney University (WSU). This initiative aims to foster international cooperation in addressing critical issues outlined by the United Nations' SDGs.

Capacity Building Program for Public Servants. One of the key aspects of this collaboration is the proposed Capacity Building Program scheduled for the coming year. This program targets explicitly the professional development of public servants (ASN) and will be conducted in partnership with Western Sydney University. The program aims to enhance the skills and knowledge of participants, equipping them with the tools necessary to contribute meaningfully to the achievement of SDGs.

Innovative Data System Mentorship, the collaboration also includes a pioneering data system mentorship program. Recognizing the importance of data in informed decision-making, this initiative will facilitate the exchange of expertise between UNAIR and WSU in the development and implementation of cutting-edge data systems. WUACD Summit in Conjunction with International Conference on Community Development 2022

Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) - UNAIR has successfully forged strong international collaboration in an effort to collect and measure data related to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In 2022, UNAIR partnered with Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) to organize a summit that garnered global attention.

UNAIR and UPM collaborated to organize the WUACD Summit in Conjunction with the International Conference on Community Development 2022" under the theme "The Enhancement of Global Environmental Health for Sustainable Community Resilience." The event marked a joint effort to achieve the SDGs with a focus on environmental and community well-being issues.

One noteworthy aspect of this event is the collaboration between WUACD UNAIR and UPM with nine other countries, namely Malaysia, Australia, Thailand, Turkey, Taiwan, Libya, India, Pakistan, and South Korea. This created a vital platform for sharing knowledge and experiences in data measurement for the SDGs.

The summit features six main sub-topics that will be the focal points of discussion, namely:

In addition to the conference, the summit also organized a research competition that captured the attention of many scientists and researchers from various countries. The best research from this competition will be published in a Scopus-indexed journal, providing international recognition for the research contributions.

UNAIR Collaborate with NGOs: Supporting SDGs in Education and The Environment

Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) - In 2022, the SDGs Center UNAIR forged a significant partnership with two non-governmental organizations (NGOs): Wahana Lingkungan Hidup Indonesia (WALHI) and Padepokan ASA (ASA). This collaboration aims to contribute to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) set by the United Nations (UN), with a primary focus on environmental and economic sustainability.

After engaging in a sequence of consultations and sharing valuable insights, the SDGs Center UNAIR, in collaboration with these two NGOs, defined explicit targets that align with the five SDGs:

This collaboration primarily concentrates on providing education regarding climate change, raising awareness about environmental issues among the public, and actively participating in environmental preservation within the campus.

WALHI Indonesia and ASA are organizations with extensive experience and expertise in various environmental and sustainable projects. Through this collaboration, they will play an active role in delivering education to communities on environmental issues, climate change, and the importance of environmental conservation.

Additionally, this collaboration will involve UNAIR students in environmental preservation projects, including tree planting, waste management, and other environmental initiatives.

UNAIR Collaborates on SDGs Research with Four UK Universities

Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) - UNAIR has successfully established a significant international research collaboration with four renowned universities from the United Kingdom. Commencing in 2022, this partnership program's primary objective is to bolster the realization of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through substantial research funding.

This research funding program, which has been communicated to all faculties and schools at UNAIR, provides research funding ranging from 75 Million Rupiah to 200 Million Rupiah The partnership comprises a group of researchers, including a principal investigator from UNAIR, at least one UNAIR research member and a minimum of one research member from one of the UK partner universities. The primary objective of this program is to produce impactful research outcomes, including an implementation agreement and publications in top-tier journals and/or Q1 journals.

UNAIR’s Contribution to SDGs: Inauguration of SDGs Center

Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) - Prof. Dr. Mohammad Nasih, SE., MT., Ak., officially inaugurated the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Center at UNAIR on March 8, 2022. This inauguration aims to support the realization of schools and universities with a sustainable development curriculum concept.

The inauguration included an international conference, conducted online from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM WIB, was attended by 153 participants, including invited guests such as the Ministry of National Development Planning, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology, the United Nations Resident Coordinator for the Republic of Indonesia, and representatives from the East Java Governor's office.

The inauguration of SDGs Center UNAIR featured various dialogues related to the achievement of SDGs at the local, regional, and national scales. Bayu Arie Fianto, SE., MBA., Ph.D, the Head of SDGs Center UNAIR, presented various UNAIR programs aligned with SDGs 1–17. The establishment of SDGs Center makes it easier for UNAIR to categorize various activities that can contribute to achieving SDGs in Indonesia

Following the presentation on UNAIR's SDGs achievements, Vivi Yulaswati, Deputy for Maritine and Natural Resources of the Ministry of National Development Planning, continued with a discussion on Indonesia Vision 2045. She outlined four key roles that the SDGs Center can undertake:

The next presentation was delivered by Valerie Julliand, UN Resident Coordinator, on "The Role of Higher Education Institutions in Achieving SDGs." Valerie emphasized that SDGs are integrated global goals serving as universal objectives to protect the planet and ensure that by 2030, everyone can live in peace and prosperity. Valerie expressed hope that the establishment of SDGs Center UNAIR will support the development of SDGs and contribute to achieving equality through UNAIR's programs benefiting the wider community.

The last discussion was presented by the representative of the East Java Governor, Ir. Mohammad Yasin, M.Si., who shared various SDGs programs conducted by the East Java Provincial Government. One critical role of educational institutions is to conduct policy-related research to provide input to the government.

The inauguration of the SDGs Center demonstrated UNAIR's preparedness to collaborate and determine the right solutions to achieve the SDGs.
