SDGs Center of Universitas Airlangga Has Received Visits from Two Universities to Benchmark about SDGs

UNAIR NEWS –SDGs Center of Universitas Airlangga received visits from two universities, Yogyakarta State University (UNY) on (29/11/2022) and Borneo Tarakan University on (22/11/2022). The agenda was sharing knowledge about the SDGs Center management and SDGs best practices at each campus.

The visit took place in the Balairua on the 4th floor, Campus C Universitas Airlangga. It was attended by the Executive Secretary Rector of Yogyakarta State University, namely Prof. Soni Nopembri, Ph.D.; the Head of the World Class University (WCU) team, namely Prof. Dr. M. Bruri Triyono; the coordinator for academic affairs; the university ranking team; and WCU student employment.

While in Kahuripan Room 301, the representatives from the University of Borneo Tarakan were the secretary of the Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM), namely Anang Sulistyo, S.P., M.P., and team, as well as the staff of the Bureau of Planning, Finance, Personnel, and General Affairs (BPKKU) of the University of Borneo Tarakan.

"Under the direction of the National SDGs Secretariat Bappenas, we were asked to benchmark the management of the SDGs Center to Universitas Airlangga," said Dr. Ratno Achyani, S.Pi., M.Sc., as the Head of the Study Center for Biodiversity in Border and Coastal Areas and Tropical Sea Coasts, Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM) University of Borneo Tarakan.

From Universitas Airlangga, it was represented by Bayu Arie Fianto, SE., MBA., Ph.D as the Head of the SDGs Center; Hakim Zulkarnain, S.Kep., Ns., MSN., as Secretary of the SDGs Center; Yuni Sari Amalia, S.S., M.A., Ph.D as Secretary of the Planning and Development Board (BPP); Dr. Eng. Patmawati, S.Pi., M.Si., and Sa'idah Zahrotul Jannah, S.Si., M.Stat. as BPP Coordinator; Andi Hamim Zaidan, M.Sc, Ph.D as the Head of Life Science, Technology, and Engineering (LIHTR); dr. Niko Azhari Hidayat, Sp.BTKV(K) as Secretary of the Institute for Research and Community Development (LPPM).

"SDGs Center of Universitas Airlangga is still relatively new because it was only established in March 2022. Previously, we visited Bappenas to register our SDGs center, and we are included in the 26th PTN registered with Bappenas. Apart from that, we also brought reports related to SDGs activities at Airlangga University to be submitted to Bappenas," said the Head of the SDGs Center at Universitas Airlangga.

Benchmarking SDGs, SDGs Center Universitas Airlangga Learns from SDGs Center Universitas Padjadjaran

On Tuesday (17/5), Universitas Airlangga invited SDGs Center from Universitas Padjajaran as a method to upgrade knowledge in SDGs. On that benchmarking event, it was attended by the Head of SDGs Center of Universitas Airlangga, Bayu Arie Fianto, S.E, MBA., Ph.D., and other SDGs Center team members. On this occasion, the event is attended by Prof. Dr. Zuzy Anna, S.Si., M.Si. as the director of SDGs Center UNPAD.

Prof. Dr. Zuzy Anna gave many insights about how SDGs Center of Universitas Padjadjaran managed all the programs related to SDGs. Universitas Padjadjaran is concerned in the research of SDGs, independent studies, seminars, and workshops. About the SDGs programs in Unpad, Prof. Dr. Zuzy said, “SDGs Center Unpad socializes people in areas where SDGs needed to be introduced such as Gorontalo and Riau.” Besides, regarding their collaboration with UNICEF, the SDGs Center Unpad’s roadmap is adapted from the national roadmap and arranges financial planning based on the changes by 2030.

In addition, due to fasten the acceleration of SDGs in wider society, SDGs Center Universitas Padjadjaran manages several projects. SDGs Modules have been arranged by SDGs Center Unpad for introducing SDGs to the governments. Otherwise, SDGs Center Unpad also advances in community development especially in environmental and law sectors. On certain occasions, SDGs Center Unpad supplies food in emergency situations for small towns, villages, and remote areas.

In order to learn more about the organization of SDG Center Unpad, Prof. Dr. Zuzy explained that SDGs Center Unpad consists of the director, deputy director, finance staff, master degree students and partner researchers. Besides, Prof. Dr. Zuzy suggested that SDGs Center Universitas Airlangga has to monitor every SDGs program implemented in the university.

Achieving the SDGs, SDGs Center of Universitas Airlangga Held a Meeting with UNRC Indonesia

SDGs Center UNAIR - On Friday (4/2/22), the United Nation Resident Coordinator of Indonesia initiated to invite the SDGs Center of Universitas Airlangga in a meeting between the UN Agencies and SDGs Center Universitas Airlangga. This meeting was attended by representatives of UNESCO, WHO, ESCAPE, WFP, and UNRC Indonesia and also the team members of SDGs Center Universitas Airlangga and aimed to propose collaboration between us. In the meeting, we are acknowledged about the development of the Global Goals in Indonesia and what are the programs arranged to realize it. It was explained by the Head of the Resident Coordinator Office, Strategic Planner and Senior Coordinator Officer. In addition, the representative of SDGs Center of Universitas Airlangga also gave an exposure of our profile and the programs in Universitas Airlangga related to our efforts in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. Moreover, the meeting between the two parties led to our future collaboration on the SDGs, for example in stunting reduction. At that occasion, the SDGs Center team also introduced our SDGs Experts from Universitas Airlangga which consisted of 20 experts from 16 faculties. The list of SDGs Experts are as follows: 1. Supporting SDG 17 UNAIR Performs Benchmarking with UNHAS

SDGs Center UNAIR - Universitas Airlangga has participated in the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals by establishing cooperation with many institutions, especially on SDGs point 17, partnerships for the goals through comparative study. Bayu Arie Fianto, SE, MBA, PhD, Head of SDGs Center UNAIR, said that the comparative study was an informative method and a bridge between the two institutions. The future collaborations could be an implementation of the 17th SDG, partnership for the goals. He stated that many institutions can cooperate with UNAIR to increase activities related to SDGs. "This comparative study with Hasanuddin University becomes the first step in expanding the network of cooperation to increase the impact of SDGs. It is hoped that the comparative study will not only be held with universities in Indonesia but also with those abroad, "he said. Hasanuddin University (UNHAS) is the first institution invited by the SDGs Center UNAIR team to conduct comparative studies. It was held on Thursday, July 29, 2021. The event began with introductions between representatives of each SDG Center and continued with presentations on the SDGs programs of both universities. Both SDGs Centers are consistent in spreading positive impacts to the wider communities through community servie programs related to SDGs. Drs. Muhammad Yusri Zamhuri, MA, PhD, as the speaker from UNHAS and the head of the UNHAS SDGs Center, revealed that the entire academic communities, including the rector and the active involvement of students, fully support the SDGs program. Mr. Yusri emphasized the need for collaboration and active involvement between educational institutions, stakeholders, governments, and health institutions, especially during the pandemic. Supporting SDGs 17, UNAIR Conducted a Comparative Study on SDGs with ITS SDGs Center UNAIR

SDGs Center UNAIR - Universitas Airlangga continues to establish partnerships to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals, through comparative study. This comparative study was carried out virtually, starting with a discussion related to SDGs issues in East Java and continuing with discussions on best practice implementation of SDGs at UNAIR and ITS. Discussions related to the SDGs will certainly continue to be carried out with universities in Indonesia that also focus on the SDGs. The comparative study was held on Monday, June 29, 2021 and welcomed by the SDGs Study Center of Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember. UNAIR and ITS both agree about the plans of cooperation related to the SDGs. The comparative study was attended by Dr. Agnes Tuti Rumiati, M.Sc as the head of the ITS SDGs Study Center (Puskaji), Dr. Ir. Janti Gunawan M.Eng.Sc, MComIB as the vice chairman, and several staff.
In her explanation, Mrs. Agnes said that ITS has collaborated with many national and international institutions. This collaboration encourages the implementation of impacted programs related to the SDGs.

Bayu Arie Fianto, SE, MBA, PhD, head of SDGs Center UNAIR, responded very well to the attendances of the representatives from ITS. Both ITS and SDGs Center Universitas Airlangga are waiting for the future collaboration. It will be as successful as the previous collaboration such as the Ksatria Airlangga Floating Hospital (RSTKA).

The collaboration of the floating hospital includes the contribution of ITS in the ship infrastructure, while UNAIR contributes to the programs related to health. Furthermore, UNAIR and ITS can collaborate in other activities according to the focus of their respective fields, concluded Pak Bayu. (*)
